From journalist to designer: Asking questions, crafting stories, and creating intuitive solutions …
My journey began in journalism, where the power of curiosity ignited my passion for uncovering stories. This inquisitive spirit fueled my transition to tech support at Mailchimp, where I honed my skills in investigation and problem-solving. At Year Up, I donned the educator's hat, leveraging my journalistic ability to simplify complex information and engage students. Then, as a product designer at Salesforce, I weave all these experiences together, bridging the gap between design, storytelling, and user needs.
My driving force? Creating intuitive experiences that resonate with users. I empathize deeply with their challenges, crafting compelling narratives that guide them through product interactions. Simplifying complexity is my design mantra, ensuring every element serves a clear purpose and sparks delight.
My diverse career journey has sculpted me into a meticulous product design expert. I thrive in environments where I can turn intricate concepts into user-friendly solutions, adapt quickly to new challenges, and consistently deliver on time. My grounding in the MEAN Stack empowers me to design with technical feasibility in mind, bridging the gap between creativity and implementation.
From web and mobile features to complex information architecture, I've tackled a multitude of projects with a user-centric approach, fueled by my love for design thinking. I'm a dedicated problem solver, laser-focused on creating elegant, accessible, and technically refined designs that truly meet user needs.
What I do in my spare time …
Dishing out recipes …
It all began with instant ramen. Then after watching Youtubers like “Marion’s Kitchen,” “Binging with Babish,” and “Made with Lau” I’ve come to have an album of dishes I’ve documented fondly on my phone.
Traveling …
My heartstrings pull me back to Hawai'i, where I grew up, and to the Philippines, where my second family lives. I also cherish occasional road trips exploring states surrounding Georgia.
Meeting people …
I occasionally host mild hiking meets around parks, meet fellow foodies at new restaurants, or collaborate with others at hackathons.
Digesting stories …
I'm an avid reader with a soft spot for authors like Haruki Murakami, Orson Scott Card, and Neil Gaiman. Witnessing their stories translated to the screen - movies, TV shows, you name it - is another layer of enjoyment, though I admit I can't help but analyze how well they capture the essence of the original (don't worry, it's all in good fun!). My passion for storytelling extends beyond books, though. As a pop culture enthusiast, I devour movies, comic books, and anime, always eager to discover new worlds and characters.
Trying out businesses …
I’ve done side hustles like hosting on Airbnb, landlording rentals, and crafting on Etsy.
Capturing fashion trends …
I love collecting movie posters and keeping a gallery of sneakers I can’t afford to buy.
